How many reusable water bottles does it take before we realize they’re really not created equal?
I know families with an overflowing cabinet of the cheap plastic ones (the kind your child gets as a freebie from sports or school). It makes me wonder if we’re really helping the disposable water bottle problem at all. Not only are these cheapo’s leaching chemicals… but as soon as the lid cracks, there goes more plastic into the landfill.
And with the jury still out on the safety of BPA-free plastics, it seems to be a sign to stick with the tried-and-true standbys when it comes to what we cook, eat, and drink from. For our family, that mostly means real dishes, glass, cast iron, and stainless steel.
At meal time, despite some unwarranted fears about glass and the kids, we’re trying to use glass instead of the other cups we have. I say unwarranted because they go to a Montessori school, where my youngest has used real dishes and glasses since age 3, and there’s been no shattering on his behalf.
Tazzini Water Bottles Really Are Leak-Proof
Around the house and at bedtime, the kids typically use a stainless water bottle. This is where you find out how good those leak proof caps really are. And it’s one of the reasons I love our Tazzini bottle.
It has an easy flowing sport-type spout, but it’s a lot more comfortable to drink from. The attached cap is handy for keeping the spout clean, and thanks to smart design, the cap doesn’t fall back down on your nose or face while you’re drinking. In fact, the cap doesn’t flop around at all, it stays right in the position you leave it.
And you know we love a company that Gives Back…
Another brilliant part of the Tazzini story is that creator Kristy Nardini has some of our favorite environmental and children’s organizations close to her heart. Kristy says, “Our young son has an immune system deficiency caused by exposure to toxins in the enviroment. We support organizations that seek to find remedies to both prevent toxin-induced illnesses and help those who have been affected by them. We donate a percentage of our proceeds to such causes, as well as donate our time.”
- Bag It!
The style Kristy sent me for review is the Peace Sign bottle above featuring one of my favorite quotes by John Lennon, “If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.” To find other styles or to learn more about Kristy’s story, visit Tazzini online.
